JOB SUMMARY
The position of the Business Development Manager is focused on acquiring commercial loans (notes) on the secondary market. The primary objective is to identify, establish, and manage relationships with financial institutions looking to sell these assets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Oversee all Business Development efforts for the Loan Division business.
- Proactively identify, contact, and visit with banks, financial institutions, or other debt holders to inquire about performing or distressed commercial loans available for sale.
- Navigate bank hierarchies to reach decision-makers in special assets, secondary marketing, or commercial lending departments.
- Build and maintain long-term partnerships with Special Assets Officers, bank executives, and secondary market traders.
- Build a consistent loan acquisition pipeline to meet annual production and acquisition goals.
- Coordinate the intake of preliminary loan documentation, such as original note, mortgage, and payment records for internal due diligence team.
- Support the due diligence team in deal underwriting as needed.
- Assist the Loan Division staff to integrate new acquisitions into the company’s operating system.
- Other duties as assigned by the Loan Division Manager.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Proven track record of building and managing relationships with banks and debt sellers.
- A proven “self-starter” mentality with the resilience to handle the long sales cycle typical of institutional finance.
- Proficiency in Customer Relationship Management software (Salesforce), Microsoft Excel for financial data analysis, and loan origination systems.
- Ability to communicate complex financial ideas and navigate negotiations with bank leadership.
- Familiarity with commercial loan structures, mortgages, and promissory note legalities.
- Has a high degree of integrity and the ability to work with sensitive information.
- Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work with others in a positive, professional manner.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in commercial banking, secondary loan trading, or financial sales.
- Business Development experience managing the full sales cycle from prospecting through contract execution.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The duties of this job take place in a typical office environment; the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate; there is the presence of office equipment noise.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Willingness to commit to regular travel, meet with prospective banking partners, and attend industry conferences.
- Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
Compensation: $125k , based on experience
