Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministry

The Neighborhood Church
Bentonville, AR Full Time
POSTED ON 7/20/2025 CLOSED ON 9/2/2025

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministry position at The Neighborhood Church?

Director of Children, Youth & Family Ministry

A position with heart, hustle, and holy purpose.

We’re The Neighborhood Church—a passionate, forward-moving ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) church with a bold mission: Change Church. Create Relationship.

We believe church should meet the world as it is today: fast-moving, creative, and full of a future hope. Our community is both in-person and online, and our mission is all about building relationships with Jesus and each other that go beyond Sundays and beyond church walls.

We’re looking for someone who gets that.

Someone who loves Jesus, loves kids and students, and is passionate about creating a space where families grow in faith and kids feel known and loved.

Is this job for you...?

About You

You’re the kind of leader who can connect with a 5-year-old and a high schooler and their parents… all before your second cup of coffee.

You:

  • Love Jesus and know how to share that love in creative ways.
  • Get excited about organizing epic youth nights and meaningful conversations over ice cream.
  • Aren’t afraid to dance like no one’s watching (even if everyone is).
  • Know that social media is more than just dancing and cat videos—and you know how to use it.
  • Understand that innovation is a must to reach kids and families in today’s world.
  • Want to help people fall in love with church all over again.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading kids and youth ministries from Nursery through 12th Grade.
  • Creating awesome, meaningful faith-building events, trips, and programs.
  • Building, training, and leading an incredible team of volunteers.
  • Regularly connecting with parents—partnering with them as the primary faith leaders at home.
  • Taking over "Summer Camp" and hosting incredible mission groups on our campus and leading VBS that keeps kids coming back week after week!
  • Evaluating ministry efforts every 30, 60, and 90 days—with clear plans and shared wins.
  • Partnering with the Pastor and the staff to align with the big-picture vision of the church.

You’re Next-Level If…

  • You believe parents are the primary disciple makers and Sunday/Wednesdays are to truly equip the family for ministry in the home
  • You’re fluent on the socials: Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, and YouTube shorts, and generationally still ready to embrace the Facebook.
  • You’ve got a go-to set of backyard games and can lead worship with hand motions in your sleep.
  • You’re flexible, adaptable, and view change as an opportunity—not a setback.
  • You see data, feedback, and the Holy Spirit as tools for growth, but know the Holy Spirit is the best path always!

Let’s Talk About Your Spirit-Led Gifts

  • Creative – You bring fresh ideas to life with energy and purpose.
  • Innovative – You stay ahead of culture and help the church do the same.
  • Relational – You lead with humility and connect with people at every age and stage.
  • Strategic – You think long-term, develop systems, and know how to move things forward.

The Future Is Bright

This role is part of a strategic growth plan. As our church continues to grow, this position is expected to split into dedicated roles

  • Director of Children & Family Ministry
  • Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministry

The Foundation

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” – Ephesians 2:10
