Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and assemble dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, slicers, stoves, ovens, and food processors
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to strict food safety and sanitation standards
- Assist with meal preparation for service, ensuring timely delivery of quality food items
- Follow food handling procedures to prevent cross-contamination and ensure proper storage of ingredients
- Support menu planning efforts by providing input on ingredient availability and prep needs
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate tasks and maintain a smooth workflow during busy hours
Skills
- Proven experience in food service or restaurant environments, with a strong foundation in culinary techniques
- Knowledge of dietary department standards and dietary aide experience is a plus
- Skilled in food preparation, cooking, and presentation with excellent knife skills and slicing techniques
- Familiarity with operating various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Understanding of food safety management practices and safety standards in production environments
- Ability to follow recipes accurately while maintaining consistency in meal quality
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen team members and front-of-house staff
- Experience in catering or large-scale meal preparation is advantageous but not required
