A family in Denville is looking for a proactive, patient nanny to take care of their two children, ages 1 year old and 3 years old. The current schedule is as follows:

Monday: 8 am -6 pm
Tuesday: 7:30am-7:30pm
Wednesday: 8am-6pm
Thursday: 7:30am-7:30pm
Friday: 8am-4pm (summer Fridays can end by 2pm)

Schedule flexibility is important. Notably, there must be flexibility for 12 hour days when Dad travels (average of 2x a week).

Duties:
Introducing solids to the baby. Preparing meals for the toddler. Preparing simple meals for the whole family. Doing the children’s laundry. Vacuuming. Basic tidying after the children. Keeping the bottles and breast milk pump parts clean and available. Grocery shopping is a plus but not a requirement.

Ideal nanny:
The ideal nanny for this household is a patient multitasker. They are good under pressure and are adaptable while also being able to adhere to a structured schedule. They are proactive in managing household tasks in a home with two children and understand that sometimes staying on schedule takes additional effort. A Bachelor’s degree is a plus, but not required.

About the children: The 3-year-old is fun, expressive, musical, sensitive, and introverted. He loves music, reading, and sensory input. He sometimes takes longer to adjust to new spaces and has trouble socially interacting with other kids. He goes to preschool 3 days a week, from 8:50 am to 11:30 am and is enrolled in early intervention programs.

The 1-year-old loves to drink milk, poop, and sleep, though he’s not a good napper. Sometimes feeds can be difficult because he has reflux.

About the parents:
Both parents are hands-on, balancing work and taking care of their children. Mom is detail-oriented, playful, and able to juggle multiple things at once. Dad is smart, honest, fun and playful. They are both straightforward in their communication. Both parents are engaged in their children's development and are happy to lend a hand when working from home. They believe in transparent communication and setting clear expectations. They believe in being patient with the boys, and think their children thrive in structure.

The discipline structure in this home involves setting clear expectations with their children, using command language when a desired action is not an option. They utilize explanations to communicate when and why a behavior is harmful. They also do not do screentime with their kids.
