Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our veterinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care and veterinary procedures, with the ability to support veterinarians in providing high-quality medical services. This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, assisting with a variety of animal health needs, from routine pet care to critical veterinary procedures. Candidates should possess excellent animal handling skills, veterinary terminology knowledge, and laboratory experience to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians with clinical examinations, treatments, and surgeries
- Venipuncture and catheterization
- Perform animal restraint and handling for various species including dogs, cats, and equines
- Conduct laboratory tests such as blood work and urinalysis using aseptic techniques
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed
- Maintain detailed medical records and documentation of treatments and procedures
- Support pet grooming, pet care, and pet grooming activities as needed
- Handle X-ray procedures and assist with radiographic imaging
- Monitor anesthesia during surgeries and recovery processes
- Provide kennel care, animal husbandry, and ensure cleanliness of the treatment areas
- Assist with pet training and behavior management when necessary
- Support client education on pet health, nutrition, and preventive care
Experience
Candidates should have prior veterinary technician experience or related animal care background. Preferred skills include kennel experience, dental terminology knowledge, animal physiology expertise, veterinary critical care experience, laboratory experience, equine experience, dog handling skills, animal husbandry proficiency, veterinary terminology familiarity, pet grooming abilities, X-ray operation skills, and knowledge of animal anatomy. Experience with animal catheterization, restraint techniques, aseptic procedures, and pet care is highly desirable. A background in veterinary critical care or specialized areas such as laboratory work or equine medicine will be considered a strong asset. All applicants must demonstrate a genuine passion for animal welfare and possess excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and clients.
