Primary Duties:
- Surgery & Anesthesia Support: Prep patients, place IVs, induce anesthesia, monitor vitals, maintain sterile technique, assist in soft-tissue surgeries, calculate drugs, be familiar with logging controlled substances, and oversee recovery and pain control.
- Dental Procedures & Radiographs: Clean and polish teeth, take dental X-rays, chart the mouth accurately, and support oral health.
- Technical & Diagnostic Skills: Run in-house lab work, administer medications, perform radiographs, manage wound care, perform regular maintenance of all in-house machinery (like lab equipment and X-ray machines), and oversee post-op monitoring.
- Workflow & Organization: Maintain accurate medical records (with help from our AI scribe), restock, organize instruments, prep packs, and ensure equipment is properly cleaned and sterilized. We cross-train everyone to work both front and back areas, ensuring the whole team is versatile and well-rounded.
- Client Education & Support: Help pet guardians understand surgical plans, anesthesia safety, post-op instructions, home-care, and go over treatment estimates in a clear and supportive way.
Requirements
- Valid license as a Veterinary Technician or equivalent credential
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and pet care practices
- Experience with laboratory procedures, X-ray imaging, dental procedures, and general surgery
- Strong animal handling skills including dog handling and general animal restraint techniques
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with pet owners and team members
