Special Educator

This position is for a special educator to provide 1520 hours of academic tutoring to a high schoolaged student with autism who receives his education in a communitybased setting. A small core team embeds his curriculum into natural learning opportunities across settings to help mitigate splintered skills and to provide a dynamic learning experience.

Requirements

• Certification as a special educator
• 5 years experience working with older students with autism including nonspeaking students
• Crisis prevention trained or willingness to get training (funded by school)
• Familiarity with Assistive Augmentative Communication (AAC)
• Ability to work 124 MF
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to take initiative and prepare plans schedules and approaches
• Willingness to implement the program in carious locations other than the classroom
• Dynamic implementation approaches that honor the unique abilities and needs of this student
• Valid drivers license and access to a safe operating vehicle during scheduled working hours
• 100000 / 300000 Automobile Liability Insurance
• This student does not follow the ABA model.
