Summary of Job Description:
This position, in collaboration with the Recreation & Community Services Department’s Services Manager, plans, supervises and evaluates all jobs and directs tasks identified for the participants of the summer work program. Ensures participants follow safety procedures, wear PPE, and maintains a safe and hazard-free environment. Addresses issues with appropriate communication and documentation. This position also assists in supervising recreation programs and activities to support a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment for youth.
Minimum Requirements:
- Strong demonstrated interpersonal, leadership and problem-solving skills with the ability to mentor, motivate and guide staff
- Demonstrated understanding of group dynamics, conflict resolution and ability to work collaboratively
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and levelheaded during fast paced or high stress situations
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and committed to creating a safe and inclusive work environment
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) and experience with planning, developing and managing youth programs

- Enrollment in higher-education program related to parks and recreation fields.
- Previous experience supervising youth groups, in a recreation or educational setting
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification required (training provided)
- Position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions and lifting or pulling materials up to 50 lbs.
- Successful candidate must pass the background check and continue to be eligible for employment in accordance with the Mohegan Tribe’s Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Policy
- Must be at least 18 years old
