What are the responsibilities and job description for the Retail Store Associate position at The Mint Museum?
GENERAL SUMMARY:
To extend the museum’s educational facilities, enhance the visitor’s experience, and generate funds to support the museum through sales and outstanding customer service. 10-29 hours per week, weekdays, some evenings and weekends required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Greets and assistances customers by providing knowledgeable and accurate information on shop
merchandise and museum related information.
• Operates the computer using the Point of Sale (POS) program.
• Opens and closes the Shops on time and handles opening and closing procedures on the POS.
• Assists with special events and Shop volunteers.
• Understands and follows completely all Museum and Shops policies and procedures.
• Assists in maintaining an attractive shop with cleaning and display.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:
EDUCATION: Some college preferred
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: Retail experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Excellent verbal and people skills. Computer proficiency required.
Able to stand for long period of time. Able to lift up to 25 lbs. Access to transportation in order to work at both
locations of the Museum.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office environment. Occasional nights and weekends required. Some climbing on
ladders and lifting of up to 25 pounds.
Supervisory responsibilities: No
