What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at The Midtown Group?
We are seeking a strategic Operations Manager to join our leadership team. This is not your standard "boots-on-the-ground" warehouse role. While you will oversee our dedicated warehouse operations and a team of employees, your primary mission is Organizational Development. We are looking for a systems-builder—someone who can architect a robust internal training academy , establish cross-departmental workflows, and mentor our staff to become future leaders.
If you have a background in operations, manufacturing, or supply chain, but your true passion lies in building people and processes, we want you on our team.
What You Will Do:
- Architect a Training Engine: Design and execute a formal, multi-tiered internal certification program. You won't just be training staff; you will be teaching our highest-level team members (Tiers 4 & 5) how to train and certify junior staff to create a self-sustaining cycle.
- Process Optimization & SOPs: Develop cross-departmental workflows that allow our warehouse staff to cross-train in production and fabrication to earn higher wages.
- Team Leadership: Manage a department of hourly employees. Navigate the cultural shifts required when implementing new corporate processes, accountability structures, and efficiency standards on the floor.
- Logistics Oversight: Oversee daily warehouse operations, including precise truck packing, inventory management, and developing a training program for our drivers to navigate complex city routes.
- Strategic Staffing: Build long-term operational strategies to staff up and execute training during our seasonal downtimes in preparation for our extremely high-volume event seasons.
- Scale for the Future: Partner closely with our Production Manager and executive team to eliminate the reliance on expensive overtime labor through operational efficiency.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Experience: Proven background in Operations Management, People Operations, or Organizational Development within a blue-collar, manufacturing, or logistics environment.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with manufacturing, trade show exhibit building, modular builds, or an adjacent field requiring items to be built, packed, and moved rapidly.
- Leadership: Experience managing teams of hourly and overtime-eligible employees.
- Mindset: Extreme humility, honesty, and a hunger for growth. We actively want to hire someone who aspires to grow enough to eventually take over the CEO's job.
Compensation & Incredible Perks:
- Competitive Base Salary: Starting around $90,000 (open to negotiation for the right candidate).
- Lucrative Bonus Structure: $20,000 to $30,000 annually , heavily incentivized around operational efficiency and saving on overtime costs.
- Unmatched Time Off: 2 weeks accrued PTO, plus the opportunity to earn up to 18 additional days off (9 in spring, 9 in fall) for working weekends during busy seasons. That’s a potential total of 28 business days off per year (which can also be cashed out).
- Retirement: 401k available on Day 1 with a 3% match.
Salary : $20,000 - $30,000
