Shift: 830a-5p, Monday through Friday, possibility of alternate hours and Saturdays

Summary

Assists in WIC clinic operations in a high-volume environment. Helps WIC applicants and on-going participants with eligibility and WIC Nutrition Card (WNC) processes. Maintains responsibility for the intake and maintenance of participant information in the Ohio WIC Cert System and in charts. Schedules and reschedules missed appointments. Participates in community events such as community health fairs. Performs measurements and hemoglobin tests for WIC applicants/participants. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam. 2 years of related experience in a health care environment. Familiarity with data entry. Basic Computer skills, familiarity with Microsoft Office/Excel/Teams, Zoom, and email. Knowledge of basic nutrition, breastfeeding, and medical procedures. Demonstrate good judgment, flexibility, initiative, and the ability to problem solve. Access to reliable transportation and be willing to travel to any WIC location based on operational needs. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to multi-task and work independently within a team environment. Successful completion of Value Enhanced Nutrition Assessment (VENA) within six (6) weeks of hire and other WIC training courses, in assigned time periods such as USDA Breastfeeding Training, Level 1. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Access to reliable transportation and be willing to travel to any WIC location based on operational needs. Preferred: Experience in collecting and documenting anthropometric data (heights, lengths, weights), hemoglobin screening of adults, infants, and children. Experience working in a WIC clinic. High volume office or registration experience in a public health environment. Bi-lingual. Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required. May need to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds on occasion. Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications. Ability to see computer monitor and departmental documents.
