The Concession Barback supports the overall functionality of concession operations by keeping tents stocked, clean, and ready for the event. This role plays a vital behind-the-scenes part in maintaining inventory levels, transporting supplies, and assisting with both pre-event setup and post-event breakdown. The Barback works closely with Concession Supervisors and staff to ensure timely restocking, compliance with sanitation standards, and smooth operations throughout the event. They also help prepare and package concession-style food. This role helps maintain food quality, safe handling, and efficient supply delivery while keeping the production area clean and organized.
Pre-Event Setup Summary (Build)
Before opening night, the Concession Barback assists in the physical setup of concession tents and support areas. This includes moving and staging inventory, organizing supplies and equipment, and preparing service areas under the direction of the Concession Supervisor and Operations Manager. Tasks may involve lifting, loading, and verifying the placement of stock according to layout and operational needs.
Event
During event hours, the Concession Barback makes sure all concession tents are fully stocked with essential food, beverages, and operational supplies. Responsibilities include transporting items using utility carts, monitoring inventory levels in real-time, and responding promptly to staff needs. Barbacks may assist in rotating stock, refilling ice, replacing beer kegs, and maintaining a clean and functional service area. The role requires physical stamina, speed, and clear communication in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment. They also assist in preparing and packaging concession-style food. This role supports maintaining food quality, ensuring safe handling, and delivering supplies efficiently while keeping the production area neat and organized.
Post-Event Breakdown Summary
Following the event, the Barback assists with dismantling the concession tent infrastructure, returning unused inventory and equipment to storage, and ensuring all supplies are cleaned, organized, and properly put away. Barbacks may be asked to help with inventorying returned items and supporting the creation of R&M (repairs and maintenance) lists for future event preparation.

- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to interact professionally with staff, volunteers, and guests.
- A customer service-driven mindset focused on delivering a positive guest experience.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented event environment.
- Proficient in POS systems and basic math for transaction handling and sales reporting.
- Able to speak, read, and write in English.
- Physically capable of lifting, loading, and maneuvering concession equipment during setup and breakdown.
- Ability to complete physically demanding tasks, such as standing and/or walking for long periods.
- Ability to work outside in various weather conditions (heat, rain, cold temperatures).

- Ability to problem-solve and appropriately escalate issues as they are encountered in the field
- Previous experience in a support or barback role within events or F&B settings
