What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager, Medtech Marketing & Advertising position at The Matchstick Group?
The Matchstick Group is a medical device marketing agency. It's all we do. We help medtech companies — from venture-backed startups to PE-backed carve-outs to global manufacturers — name, launch, and grow brands that matter. Behind every great client outcome is a great project manager. This is that role.
We're hiring a Project Manager to be the operational engine across our client engagements. You'll keep our work moving — on time, on budget, and at the level of polish our clients expect. You'll partner closely with Account Directors, run the day-to-day of multiple engagements, and own the tools, timelines, and quality checks that keep everything humming.
The right person is unusually organized, allergic to dropped balls, and quietly takes pride in being the person who catches the typo before it goes out.
- Run day-to-day project operations across 5–8 concurrent client engagements
- Build and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and resource forecasts in Wrike
- Manage client approval workflows in Basecamp and keep deliverables moving cleanly through review
- Coordinate cross-functional contributors (strategy, creative, digital, research partners) and external specialists
- Run weekly internal status meetings and prepare client status reports
- QC every deliverable before it leaves the agency — links, copy, formatting, brand fidelity, version control
- Track scope and flag scope creep early
- Maintain meeting notes, action logs, and decision records for every engagement
- Continuously improve our internal processes and project management standards
- 4 years in agency, in-house marketing, or professional services project management
- Mastery of project management platforms (Wrike, Asana, Monday, ClickUp, or similar — we use Wrike)
- A genuine eye for detail — you spot the broken QR code, the misspelled name, the wrong version
- Strong written communication; clear, concise, professional
- Comfort working with senior creative and strategic talent (and the ability to keep them on schedule without friction)
- Calm under pressure and a bias toward early visibility on risks
- A service mindset toward both clients and internal teams
- Experience in medtech, life sciences, healthcare, pharma, or another regulated industry
- Exposure to brand or product launch projects (vs. ongoing campaign management)
- PMP, CSM, or similar certification
A boutique agency where your work is visible, your judgment is trusted, and your detail orientation is celebrated rather than buried. Competitive comp, full benefits, and a real path to grow into senior account roles.
