What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front Desk Enthusiast position at The Mast Farm Inn?
We are a historic Bed & Breakfast based in beautiful Valle Crucis, NC. Our Inn provides a rustic, cozy atmosphere for our guests and locals alike, and has been run by families since it started as a business in the 1880s. That close-knit family feel is something we always strive to uphold with our staff.
The Front Desk Enthusiast is essential to the guest experience and overall function of the inn. You are the first and last face our guests see, so it is imperative that they leave with that friendly family feeling. The front desk is the communication center of the Mast
Farm Inn and the Valle Tavern Restaurant. The front desk communicates guest needs to the kitchen staff, housekeeping, maintenance, and the innkeeper, and the front desk is the primary communication point for guests wanting to book reservations at the Inn.
Weekend (Friday-Sunday) availability is required.

Basic Front Desk Job Responsibilities:
● Properly maintaining all communication platforms (i.e., answering the phone, responding to emails, etc.)
● Prepare for guests to arrive (bake/plate cookies, tidy office/general welcome area downstairs, ensure all to do lists are check, assist where needed)
● Guest Check-Ins and Check-Outs (give keys, properly explain all policies/procedures, take payments, prepare late check-ins, solve problems, customer relations)
● Ensure guest needs are met by communicating with housekeeping, kitchen, maintenance, and innkeeper.
● Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
● Assist with events, weddings, and special occasions as required
● Natural friendly hostess attitude – we treat guests as if we are welcoming people into our home.
● Needs knowledge of all functions of the inn (restaurant hours, what we offer, special events, etc.)
● Deal with customer complaints and positively resolve conflicts
More Detailed Front Desk Job Responsibilities
● Ensure Inn is adequately stocked (toiletries, gift shop, cleaning supplies, coffee, tea, paper products) - Other departments order some of these items, but the front desk keeps an eye on it and will communicate if something is running low.
● Observe the general appearance and function of the entire inn to ensure proper standards and excellent customer service
● Communicate issues front desk is experiencing to management
● Highly attentive to detail, strong leadership skills, self-motivated and proactive about making improvements for the growth of the business
● Ability to multitask while working in a team based setting
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
