The Southern Area Aquatics and Recreation Complex (SAARC) is seeking an energetic, innovative, and customer-focused professional to help lead operations, programming, and community engagement at one of Prince George's County's premier recreation facilities.

This position offers the opportunity to manage facility operations, develop exciting programs and events, build community partnerships, oversee staff, and contribute to the continued growth and success of SAARC

Please note that the salary range above represents earning potential. The budgeted salary range of this position is $65,465 - $90,704 Salary is commensurate with experience.

Examples of Important Duties

Facility & Operations Management

  • Assist in the daily management and operation of a multi-functional recreation and aquatics facility.
  • Monitor facility conditions and coordinate maintenance needs to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Maintain facility assets, equipment inventories, and administrative records.
  • Ensure compliance with M-NCPPC financial policies, procedures, and operational standards.

Program Development & Community Engagement

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate recreation programs, classes, camps, and special events.
  • Use customer feedback and participation data to improve programming and enhance the visitor experience.
  • Create and launch revenue-generating programs that support facility goals.
  • Build partnerships with schools, community organizations, and local stakeholders.
  • Attend community meetings and outreach events to promote SAARC programs and services.

Marketing & Customer Service

  • Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to increase awareness of programs and events.
  • Support outreach efforts through digital, print, and community engagement strategies.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and foster positive relationships with patrons and community members.

Staff Leadership & Administration

  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising part-time and seasonal staff.
  • Oversee summer camp operations and teen programming initiatives.
  • Monitor staff performance and ensure program calendars, trips, meetings, and purchasing needs are completed effectively.
  • Process payroll documentation, employee records, and administrative reports accurately and on time.

Financial Management

  • Monitor operating expenditures and personnel budgets.
  • Assist with cost recovery planning and budget tracking.
  • Manage revenue collection processes, deposits, petty cash, and financial reporting.
  • Support annual budget planning and operational forecasting.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation, Facility Management, Recreation Management, Education, Business Administration, Physical Education, Communication, Leisure Services, or any related field.
  • Two (2) years of responsible professional experience working in a facility related to parks, recreation, leisure services, or area of required specialty (e.g., arts, performing arts, equestrian, tennis, aquatics, gymnastics, ice rinks); including one (1) year as a facility manager, program coordinator or supervisor.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total six (6) years.
  • Valid driver’s license in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations. Driver's license must be unencumbered by restrictions, revocations, suspensions or points that could limit the employee's ability to drive Commission vehicles or perform driving duties required of the position.
  • Contingent upon area of assignment, some positions in this class may require valid: (a) operating license (e.g., county pool operator, childcare license) as appropriate; (b) First Aid, CPR, automated external defibrillator (AED) certifications; or (c) certifications as related to assignment (e.g., Lifeguard Instruction, Fundamentals of Gymnastics).
  • Pass Commission medical exam.
