What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laundry Attendant position at The Martha Washington Inn & Spa?
A Laundry Attendant has the overall responsibility of cleaning and sorting linen in a timely manner to ensure that the Inn’s laundry needs are met. Weekend availability required.
Key job duties include:
- Receive soiled linens by bag. Sort all articles by kind, color, and degree of soil. Inspect all laundry and linen and record all damaged or stained items.
- Operate washers and dryers according to recommended capacity and manufacturers’ guidelines.
- Fold clean linens and store as appropriate.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments
- Stripping rooms of all bedding/linens/towels/etc.
- Stocking closets as needed with all housekeeping supplies
- Preparing linens for Special Events
This job requires ability to perform the following:
- Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently standing up and moving about the work area.
- Constant handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility.
- Repetitive bending, stooping, and kneeling
- Working in areas of high temperatures around heavy equipment.
