Laundry Attendant Job Description
Blue Ridge Preservation, Inc of Boone is looking for full-time and part-time, year-round experienced Housekeeping Team Members. We are located on the campus of the Art of Living Retreat Center, a year-round retreat and residential housing community. The Housekeeping team member is an integral part of the Retreat Center as they ensure the cleanliness of our rooms and common areas for our guests.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Laundry Attendant to join our retreat center team. The Laundry Attendant is responsible for providing guests with clean and neatly pressed linens, towels, and other items by operating commercial washers, dryers, and folding equipment. This position plays a key role in upholding the retreat center’s commitment to cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate industrial washing machines and dryers.
- Sort laundry by color, fabric type, and level of soiling before washing.
- Inspect all items for stains, tears, or excessive wear.
- Add proper cleaning agents and set washing machines to appropriate cycles.
- Load and unload laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
- Fold, stack, and organize clean laundry according to retreat center standards.
- Deliver linens and towels to housekeeping or other departments as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry area.
- Report any maintenance issues or damaged items to the supervisor.
- Adhere to all safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
- Assist with inventory of linens and laundry supplies.
- Occasionally assist with guest laundry service, if applicable.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior laundry or housekeeping experience is a plus, but not required.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry up to 40 lbs. for extended periods.
- Must be able to work in a hot, humid environment.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts.
