Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed medications accurately following physician orders and established protocols
- Monitor residents' vital signs and report any changes or concerns promptly
- Maintain detailed medical documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner
- Assist with activities of daily living, including hygiene, mobility, and nutrition support
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and privacy
- Support patients with specialized needs such as Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, hospice care, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Perform catheter care, tube feeding, and other medical procedures under supervision of nursing staff
- Record and communicate patient observations clearly in medical records and reports
- Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe environment for residents and staff
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments is highly preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medication administration procedures
- Experience using EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation
- Knowledge of medical records management and vital signs monitoring
- Background in caring for seniors or individuals with disabilities, including Alzheimer's or dementia patients
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations including those requiring hospice or memory care services
- Certification as a Medication Aide (CMA) or equivalent licensure required; ongoing training in medical documentation and HIPAA compliance is essential
