Key Responsibilities
Student Training & Vocational Instruction (60%)
- Teach baking skills to students with disabilities in one-on-one and small-group settings
- Model bakery tasks and break down processes to support student learning and skill development
- Support students in developing job readiness skills, including time management, communication, teamwork, flexibility, and independence
- Adapt instruction and support based on individual student needs while encouraging increasing independence
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and encouragement throughout daily bakery operations
- Support students in customer service interactions, food preparation, cleaning, dishwashing, stocking, and other bakery responsibilities
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and empowering learning environment
- Lead daily bakery production, ensuring all baked goods are prepared consistently and meet quality standards
- Plan, organize, and execute production schedules to meet daily demand, catering orders, and established deadlines
- Open the bakery daily and fully prepare the space for service
- Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment in accordance with all health and safety regulations
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients and finished products
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients, packaging, and bakery supplies and communicate ordering needs to the Director of Bakery Operations
- Deliver excellent customer service and create a welcoming experience for guests
- Support students in providing customer service and interacting professionally with customers
- Uphold and actively share the bakery's mission, values, and commitment to inclusive employment opportunities
- Valid Food Handler’s License required
- Understanding of a Kosher kitchen a plus
- Experience in bakery, food service, or customer-facing experience
- Experience in a job coaching or educational setting with individuals with disabilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to take initiative, multitask, adapt in a fast-paced environment, and self-manage daily schedule
- Must be comfortable standing for long periods and able to lift up to 30 lbs
