Rainy Day Dinner Club has been enriching the lives of elementary students in Seattle and the Eastside area since 2014 by providing engaging cooking and baking classes. Our mission is to foster a love for cooking, fresh ingredients, and family meals, empowering families through shared culinary experiences.
Summary
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, cheerful, and dependable instructor with reliable transportation to join our team in inspiring young chefs. Professional baking experience is not required, but a passion for baking personal experience baking a variety of things and experience for working with children is essential!
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging baking lessons for students in grades 1-8.
- Foster a positive learning environment that encourages creativity and teamwork.
- Teach basic baking and cooking skills and food safety practices to young learners.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to ensure a safe and productive space.
- Encourage students to explore new ingredients and flavors in their cooking.
- Collaborate with other instructors and staff to enhance program offerings.
Desired qualifications and experience
- Experience scratch baking yeast breads, cakes, cookies, and pies, and is comfortable making adjustments to students' doughs and batters to help them achieve success!
- Experience in teaching or working with children in an educational setting.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage young learners.
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food safety guidelines.
- Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively.
- A passion for baking and sharing that enthusiasm with others.
- Vegetarians and vegans welcome; however, comfort with handling cooked meats, raw eggs, dairy, gluten, soy, and vegetarian products is required.
Shifts/Positions: Monday- Friday (30 hours)
- Baking teacher: 7:30am - 2pm
- Baking teacher: 10:30am - 5:30pm
Start Date:
- Onboarding is on 6/10 or 6/12
- Mandatory camp training is 6/15 - 6/19 11:30am – 6:00pm
- Camps run 6/22 - 8/21
Location: Staff pick up supplies in our Queen Anne location and East Beacon Hill.
Salary and positions at RDDC:
- Seasonal Instructors: $21.30 to $23 per hour.
Requirements:
- Some schools require masks otherwise it is optional.
- Provide proof of covid vaccines and boosters.
- Must be able to pass a Washington State school and National background checks.
- Food Handler's Card (within 14 days of hire)
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications (within 30 days of hire)
- Ability to lift 30-40lb
- Must be over 18 years of age
- Must have a high school diploma
