This position is responsible for providing every aspect of design and production of print materials and graphic support for The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod through LCMS Communications. This position works closely with other Communications staff members as needed.

Reporting Relationships
- Reports to Director, Graphic Design.
This position is responsible for providing every aspect of design and production of print materials and graphic support for The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod through LCMS Communications. This position works closely with other Communications staff members as needed.
- Design publication/marketing materials. Create graphics for the Synod including its ministries, events, resources, publications, social media, website and advertisements that align with brand identity.
- Collaborate with team members. Work closely with writers, production team and director/executives to ensure cohesive visual concepts that are on-target with project goals. Strong listening and verbal skills to understand directives and convey design concepts clearly.
- Utilize graphic design software. Develop designs using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Incorporate typography, layout, color theory. Use fonts, design principles and color schemes to enhance the appeal of marketing materials.
- Maintain brand guidelines. Ensure consistency across all visual designs to build a strong brand identity.
- Develop visual concepts. Brainstorm and execute ideas that are visually impactful, memorable and align with project goals.
- Adapt designs for various mediums. Tailor visuals for digital platforms, print and multimedia projects.
- Meet deadlines. Manage time effectively to deliver high-quality designs on schedule.
- Stay updated on design trends. Research industry trends to integrate modern and innovative styles into projects.
- A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, fine arts, or a related field, with exceptional organizational skills demonstrated in successful space, time and materials management.
- Demonstrated expertise through a strong portfolio with high-quality designs.
- Technical proficiency. Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite.
- Communication skills. Ability to clearly articulate ideas and collaborate with stakeholders and team members.
- Graphic design skills. Proficiency in typography, color theory and design principles to create impactful visuals.
- Time management skills. Efficiently manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptability. Flexibility to adjust designs based on feedback and evolving project requirements.
- Problem-solving skills. Creative ability to overcome design challenges and deliver effective solutions.
- Knowledge of design trends. Awareness of industry trends and the ability to integrate them into projects.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Active membership in an LCMS congregation, faithful to the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions, and supportive of the Synod's Constitution, Bylaws, and policies.
