The Long Ridge School is an independent school serving children ages two through Grade 5 in Ridgefield, Connecticut. We believe that how children learn matters just as much as what they learn. Our classrooms are filled with curiosity, joy, creativity, and meaningful relationships, where children are encouraged to explore, discover, and develop confidence through play.
Our Beginners classroom is thoughtfully designed for two-year-olds, balancing gentle structure with plenty of opportunities for hands-on exploration, music, storytelling, outdoor play, and social growth. Working alongside experienced teachers, you'll help create a warm, nurturing environment where every child feels safe, known, and excited to come to school.

Responsibilities
Working closely with the Teachers, you will:
- Help create a warm, safe, joyful classroom where every child feels valued
- Support children's social, emotional, language, and self-help development
- Engage children in play-based experiences that foster creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving
- Assist with daily routines, including snack time, diapering or toileting, transitions, and outdoor play
- Encourage positive social interactions, independence, and confidence
- Help prepare classroom materials and maintain an organized, inviting learning environment
- Support classroom routines and positive behavior with patience, consistency, and kindness
- Collaborate with colleagues and actively participate in the life of the school community
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with young children in a preschool, childcare, camp, babysitting, or similar setting (preferred)
- Has coursework in Early Childhood Education (completed or in progress) or a strong interest in early childhood education
- Understands (or is eager to learn) child development and developmentally appropriate practice
- Is warm, patient, energetic, and genuinely enjoys working with very young children
- Communicates effectively with children, families, and colleagues
- Thrives as part of a collaborative team and is eager to learn and grow professionally
- Is committed to creating an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment for every child and family
Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Part-Time (Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.)
Start Date: August 31, 2026
Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
