What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager position at The Lignum Group?
My client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee complex commercial and high-end residential window, storefront, and façade installation projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple façade, window, and storefront projects simultaneously throughout NYC and surrounding boroughs
- Lead projects from contract award through installation and final closeout
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, general contractors, manufacturers, and internal engineering teams
- Review shop drawings, submittals, schedules, RFIs, and field conditions
- Drive project schedules and ensure procurement aligns with installation sequencing
- Oversee project budgets, change orders, cost tracking, and forecasting
- Conduct site visits and attend project meetings with clients and subcontractors
- Ensure installation quality, safety compliance, and adherence to NYC building requirements
- Support problem-solving during field installation and coordinate resolution of technical issues
- Work closely with operations and logistics teams to maintain project delivery timelines
- Maintain strong client communication throughout the lifecycle of the project
Ideal Background
- 5 years of Project Management experience within:
Curtain wall
Windows & glazing
Storefront systems
Exterior façade systems
Architectural metals
- Experience managing projects within NYC construction environments
- Strong understanding of commercial glazing systems, installation sequencing, and façade coordination
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical details
- Experience coordinating with engineering and fabrication teams
- Familiarity with landmark/LPC projects, passive house systems, or high-performance envelope systems is highly desirable
- Strong commercial awareness and schedule management skills
- Excellent communication and client-facing abilities
Preferred Experience
- High-rise residential or commercial façade projects
- Unitized curtain wall systems
- Window replacement programs
- Historic restoration or landmarked projects
- NYC DOB and site compliance exposure
- Experience working with subcontractors and union labor environments
