K-8 Guest Teacher Part Time 2-4 Day A Week Must Be Available Monday and Thursdays

The Learning Community, a vibrant public charter school that centers the voices of students, families, and teachers seeks a collaborative, dedicated part-time K-8 Guest Teacher, passionate about supporting students to realize their full potential. Part Time K-8 Guest Teachers will work 7:45-3:15 (2-4 days each week Must Be Available Monday and Thursday's).

Day to Day Responsibilities:

● The role includes taking over the classroom in the absence of the teacher. (Sometimes a split schedule across classrooms over the course of the day).

● Assists student(s) in all areas of instruction including daily routines, academics, specials, and any other appropriate classroom and school activity.

● Providing support as well as positive reinforcement for achieving specific goals.

● Support with implementing de-escalation strategies as needed and communicating progress with team.

● Assisting with arrival/dismissal/lunch/recess duties as needed, classroom observations and/or support with general projects when coverage isn't needed.

● Other needed duties to support the success of your students and our school (no more than 5% of your role).

Minimum Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, candidates need a minimum of an associate degree or two years completed toward a 4-year degree and must be U.S. citizen or resident or have work visas. In addition, they must demonstrate:

● Strong teaching abilities, especially with middle-grades students. Our teachers create safe, engaging, and rigorous learning environments. In addition, we’re looking for individuals who are skilled in communicating with students and tailoring their teaching approach to the needs of their learners. Lastly, middle-grades students are masters at pushing boundaries and asserting and advocating for their needs. The right candidate is able to be a warm demander: to build deep and trusting relationships with students, while creating accountability for how they show up and take ownership of their own learning.

● Being a reliable, collaborative, and consistently strong colleague. Our teaching teams work closely together, have planning time weekly, and build on each other’s insights and strengths with students to meet their goals. At the Learning Community, teachers must be committed to healthy communication with others, working through conflict, supporting their team, and asking for the support they need.

● Strong problem-solving skills, and resilience. Our teachers bring creativity, problem-solving and an adaptable approach to most challenges, while keeping student safety and respect for our students, parents, and school community front and center in their choices.

● Strong emotional intelligence and communication skills - especially in conflict or for trickier decisions. Salary, Benefits and Other Details:

Workday. This position is a per diem, guest teacher of record role based at the Learning Community Charter School in Central Falls, Rhode Island. All staff are expected to work 7:45-3:15 pm

Salary. For this role, compensation is $22.86 per hour.

(This is a part-time role, candidate is expected to work 2-4 days each week Must be available Monday and Thursday's). Does not include paid vacation time. Eligible for benefits at 75% employee contribution)
