About Marie Philip School:

MPS enrolls nearly 200 deaf and hard of hearing students on our Framingham, MA campus in an ASL/English bilingual, bicultural educational model. 


About Walden School:

Walden School is a nationally-recognized residential therapeutic and education program for deaf children and youth ages 8 to 22 who have often experienced significant adverse childhood events as well as language deprivation.


POSITION SUMMARY:

The After School Program (ASP) Coordinator creates and implements high quality youth athletics and activities programs for TLC. Supervise Elementary Coaches and Elementary Student-Athletes within the after school programs.


SUPERVISOR: Athletics Director


FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise and coordinate all elementary athletic practices, games, and related activities, ensuring they are conducted safely, efficiently, and in alignment with school policies and student development goals.


Supervise elementary instructional staff and athletic coaches; conduct regular meetings to review and support planning for instructional activities and sports programs.


Track Athletics and ASP attendance records and communications.


Ensure compliance and legal requirements to maintain a safe environment at all times. 


Report safety concerns and athletic and after school related incidents in a timely manner.


Assist Athletic Director with supervision of athletic staff as requested. 


Communicate with parents and caregivers about schedules and transportation needs and manage accordingly. 


May be delegated and trained to conduct medication administration or certain medical procedure responsibilities for students.


Physical activity and lifting may be required when working with TLC students, however, TLC embraces and celebrates a spirit of inclusion and diversity, and reasonable accommodations and modifications will be made whenever possible. The diversity of our student population may require that some assignments have a heavier physical responsibility due to safety.


Occasional travel, attend athletic related events, and drive students to tournaments and games. Additional driving responsibilities as needed. 



Perform other job related tasks as assigned by the Department Supervisor and/or Program Leader.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in sports, education, childhood development, family studies, or recreation preferred
  • A minimum of conversational fluency in American Sign Language required, with native, or near-native ASL fluency preferred
  • ASL Classes may be required based on ASL fluency 
  • Effectively lead students and maintain student compliance 
  • Work independently including the ability to work nights and weekends 
  • Ability to obtain National Federation High School Coach’s Certification preferred
