What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kindergarten Coordinator, After School Enrichment Program position at Milton Community Schools?
This is a part-time position for the 2025-2026 school year. Ability to commit to Monday-Friday, 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. (11:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. on 3 early school dismissal days) is required.
Under the guidance of the site supervisor, the Kindergarten Coordinator will oversee the after-school Kindergarten class at the assigned ASE program. The Kindergarten Coordinator will coordinate with the site supervisor to develop a developmentally appropriate after-school enrichment curriculum for kindergarten students enrolled in the program. The Kindergarten Coordinator will manage the daily operations and supervision of the staff assigned to the Kindergarten class, as well as the overall schedule, routines, and attendance of the after-school kindergarten program at their assigned site.
Some of the responsibilities include:
- Plan and conduct daily enrichment activities for children, including physical activities, arts & crafts projects, STEM activities, group work, and various other activities determined by the site supervisor.
- Design and teach weekly “clubs” focusing on interests shared by the students.
- Provide documented lesson plans for all activities, including the “clubs” curriculum.
- Support and manage large groups of children transitioning into and out of before and after-school programs.
- Provide supervision and support in before and after-school settings to help students participate in group class activities and encourage pro-social behaviors.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive environment for both children and adults in conjunction with other team members at all times.
- Maintain constant communication with the director, site supervisor, and other staff.
- Record attendance and contact parents with the director’s authorization regarding absent students and schedules.
- Provide professional development for all program staff assigned to the Kindergarten program.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings and attend training opportunities.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree, Associate's Degree (Related fields: Child development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Human Services, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, the Arts)
- Have a minimum of 1-2 years of demonstrated experience working with children between the ages of 4 and 10 years in a camp, after-school, and/or classroom setting
- Preferred experience in working with children from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds, as well as children with special needs
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
- All prospective staff will be required to undergo background checks and fingerprints
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, walk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to run during play or in response to an emergency. Employees are frequently required to engage with children on the floor and at their eye level. Employees are frequently required to use their hands and arms to handle and manipulate objects, as well as reach. Vision abilities are required for the supervision of children.
