Position Summary

The League for People with Disabilities is seeking a dependable, flexible, and customer-focused Part-Time/Floater Housekeeping Technician to maintain a clean, safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for participants, staff, families, and visitors. This position provides housekeeping coverage across multiple League locations and departments as needed to ensure continuity of operations.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, self-motivated, and committed to providing exceptional service while supporting the League's mission of empowering individuals with disabilities to achieve greater independence and quality of life.

Essential Functions
  • Clean and sanitize offices, classrooms, restrooms, therapy rooms, common areas, meeting spaces, and participant activity areas.

  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.

  • Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces throughout the facility.

  • Empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners.

  • Restock restroom and kitchen supplies including soap, paper towels, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and other consumables.

  • Clean windows, mirrors, glass doors, and other glass surfaces.

  • Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, damaged equipment, or supply shortages to the Facilities & Maintenance Manager.

  • Follow infection prevention and sanitation procedures.

  • Operate housekeeping equipment safely, including vacuums, floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners, and other cleaning equipment.

  • Assist with room setup and breakdown for meetings, trainings, events, and special programs.

  • Support deep-cleaning projects during school breaks, holidays, camp sessions, and scheduled maintenance periods.

  • Respond promptly to spills, accidents, and emergency cleaning situations.

  • Maintain housekeeping closets and storage areas in a clean, organized, and safe manner.

  • Follow all OSHA regulations, agency policies, safety procedures, and chemical handling requirements.

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding participants, employees, and agency information.

  • Perform additional housekeeping and facility-related duties as assigned.

Floater Responsibilities
  • Provide housekeeping coverage at various League locations based on operational needs.

  • Adapt quickly to different work environments and schedules.

  • Support multiple departments during staffing shortages, vacations, special events, or emergencies.

  • Maintain consistent cleaning standards regardless of assignment location.

  • Demonstrate flexibility with work assignments and scheduling.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

  • Minimum of one (1) year of professional housekeeping, janitorial, environmental services, or custodial experience preferred.

  • Experience cleaning schools, healthcare facilities, community centers, or nonprofit organizations is a plus.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

  • Ability to work respectfully with individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities.

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods.

  • Bending, kneeling, stooping, twisting, reaching, and climbing.

  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds.

  • Operating housekeeping equipment safely.

  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals while using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Working indoors with occasional outdoor responsibilities.

Schedule
  • Part-Time, as scheduled.

  • Flexible weekday, evening, and occasional weekend availability may be required.

  • Hours will vary based on departmental needs and coverage assignments.

  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and sanitation standards.

  • Knowledge of safe chemical usage and storage.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude while working in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to interact professionally with participants, families, visitors, volunteers, and staff.

  • Ability to recognize and report safety concerns immediately.
