Job Summary

LDM is seeking an experienced Federal Human Resources Generalist / Benefits Assistant to support a Federal customer in Washington, DC. The position combines Federal benefits and retirement administration with personnel action processing, staffing, onboarding, and records management. Benefits and retirement work is the primary focus. The selected professional must be able to work onsite, manage sensitive employee information, provide accurate customer service, and shift between HR workstreams based on agency priorities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide routine informational guidance and processing support for FEHB, FEGLI, TSP, retirement, work-life, wellness, and related Federal benefits programs.
  • Triage employee benefits inquiries and elevate complex counseling or policy matters to Federal Benefits Specialists.
  • Review and process FEHB, FEGLI, TSP, and related forms for completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Compile and verify civilian and military service histories; calculate redeposit service, FICA service, military deposits, and related retirement service credit using Government tools.
  • Request military service documentation and coordinate with OPM, DFAS, insurance carriers, payroll providers, and other agencies as required.
  • Prepare retirement estimates and routine retirement support documentation.
  • Code and process personnel and payroll actions in FPPS; review forms, legal authorities, action codes, remarks, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare pre-appointment packages; support tentative and official job offers, new-hire in-processing, and new employee orientation.
  • Request, upload, audit, and maintain eOPF records; convert authorized paper documents to electronic records and correct discrepancies.
  • Process leave transfers, track awards, maintain logs, and respond to employee and management inquiries regarding HR processes and systems.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, timely, and audit-ready documentation while safeguarding PII and sensitive information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant Federal HR processing or Federal benefits experience; five or more years strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience using FPPS for Federal personnel or payroll actions.
  • Experience supporting Federal retirement and benefits programs, including FEHB, FEGLI, TSP, FERS and/or CSRS.
  • Ability to reconstruct service histories and perform or support retirement service, military deposit, redeposit, and FICA calculations.
  • Experience with eOPF, Federal onboarding, personnel action documentation, and employee customer service.
  • Working knowledge of OPM’s Guide to Processing Personnel Actions and Federal personnel recordkeeping requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail, written communication, organization, confidentiality, and deadline management.
  • Ability to work onsite at a Federal facility in Washington, DC. Telework is not guaranteed.
  • Ability to successfully complete Federal suitability, fingerprinting, and security requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current or prior Federal Public Trust or favorable suitability determination.
  • Experience with FHR Navigator, e-Comp, USA Staffing, HR Connect, Online Retirement Application (ORA), Government Retirement & Benefits Platform (GRB), Federal Personnel and Payroll System (FPPS), electronic Official Personnel Folder (eOPF), USA Staffing, HR Connect, National Finance Center (NFC), Federal benefits systems, and employee onboarding.
  • Experience supporting Open Season, benefits briefings, new employee orientation, and retirement package preparation.
  • Prior Federal contractor or employee experience in a high-volume HR operations environment.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS

Full-time position supporting normal Federal business hours. Work will be performed onsite at the customer’s Washington, DC headquarters, with telework only when authorized by the customer. The anticipated start is September 2026.

COMPENSATION

Target annual salary range: $72,000-$80,000, commensurate with verified Federal retirement/benefits and FPPS experience. LDM offers a competitive benefits package in accordance with company policy and position eligibility.
