Job Purpose:
The Accounting Clerk is an entry-level accounting position that will support financial operations related to Multidistrict Litigation (MDL) cases, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements, and other areas of accounting as needed. This role will be entering and reviewing the time entries and case expenses, preparing financial submissions, assisting with audits, and supporting settlement accounting. Additionally, it serves as a backup for accounts payable (AP) and works with senior finance leadership to maintain accurate records and improve efficiency in litigation finance operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Accurately input data into the Accounting Systems for cases
• Review time entries and case expenses to ensure MDL compliance.
• Prepare, validate, and reconcile financial submissions related to MDL cases.
• Maintain organized documentation by filing and scanning completed submissions.
• Assist with MDL audits by ensuring accurate recordkeeping and compliance with financial guidelines.
• Ensure financial transactions related to MDL cases are properly recorded and reconciled.
• Support settlement accountants in processing payments and disbursements.
• Act as a backup for Accounts Payable (AP), assisting with invoice processing and vendor management.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and legal information.
• Assist in developing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Complete additional projects and other duties as assigned by senior finance leadership.
Minimum Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0-2 years of experience in accounting
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) with an emphasis on Excel.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with Multidistrict Litigation (MDL) financial processes.
• Knowledge of legal billing and expense tracking systems.
• Familiarity with general ledger reconciliation and expense processes.
• Experience in a professional office environment.
