Job Summary
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments as defined by state regulations 1 to residents and maintains related medical records under supervision of Nurse Supervisor.

- Ensures that all care is provided in privacy
- Ensures all protected health information is kept confidential
- Reports all complaints made by residents to supervisor
- Reports all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property Safety and Sanitation
- Follows established safety policies and procedures
- Observes safety needs of residents as indicated in care plan
- Wears and/or uses safety equipment and supplies when indicated and properly trained to use
- Demonstrates job-specific knowledge of fire and disaster preparedness during drills or actual situations
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments as defined by state regulations in accordance with approved techniques and notes time and amount on resident’s chart.
- Verifies identity of resident receiving medication and records name of drug, dosage, and time of administration on specified forms and records.
- Presents medication to residents and observes ingestion or other application, or administers medication, using specified procedures.
- Observes resident, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies Nurse Supervisor or Physician of resident’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
- Documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered and reports to nursing supervisor
- Records and restocks medication inventories.
- Prepares equipment and aids physicians during treatments and examination of residents.
- Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and determines progress of residents.
- Checks residents in section regularly; Answers call light promptly; Follows through with resident problems or needs by delivering care or reporting to supervisor depending upon level of ability and nature of resident need.
- Performs any miscellaneous work assignments as may be required.
- Certified as required by state law.
- Previous experience in long-term care preferred. Physical Demands
- Lifting 25 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing 25 pounds; Reaching, handling, feeling, seeing.
- Inside with well-lighted, well-ventilated areas with some exposure to disagreeable conditions.
