The Laconia Daily Sun is seeking a careful and dependable production assistant to help produce our daily newspaper.
The job centers on laying out community news and opinion pages using established templates. The work requires someone who is comfortable moving quickly, placing stories and photos, and delivering clean pages on deadline.
Primary duties include building pages in Adobe InDesign, placing and sizing photos, adjusting headlines and story flow, and preparing finished pages for publication. Other key responsibilities are preparing online editions, web and social media content and digital newsletters, among other production tasks.
Some light copy editing may be required from time to time, so editing experience is helpful but not required.
Candidates should be able to work both independently and collaboratively, meeting deadlines, and communicating frequently to stay on track.
Requirements:
Strong working knowledge of Adobe InDesign; familiarity with Photoshop helpful.
Experience with newspaper page layout preferred.
Ability to work carefully and meet daily deadlines.
Pay: $38,000.00 per year
