Job Summary
Autistic college honors student with complex personal and behavioral support needs is looking for a supporter to assist with activities of daily living, light housework, driving, behavioral support during outings, exercise routines, and companionship. CLIENT communicates via pointing to letters on a letterboard so good command of written and spoken English is required. Must have car in safe working order for outings, insurance, and a good driving record. Background check required. Hours 10am-7pm MWF, 7:30a-3:30p SaSu
Responsibilities
- Implement a routine to complete activities of daily living including but not limited to showering, dressing, feeding, cooking, hygiene, and medication administration
- Accompany on a daily walk and exercise routine
- Implement behavioral supports
- Assist with building motor skills
- Support communication
- Assist CLIENT to remain regulated, safe, and productively engaged in activities
- After activities, assist CLIENT to keep spaces tidy and clean.
- Report any signs or symptoms of illness or injury to Supporters.
- Assist with maintaining health and safety.
- Assist with keeping home, valuables, phone, and electronic devices secure
- Complete daily paperwork such as time sheets, communication logs, and incident reports.
- Collaborate with family and other supporters to support the CLIENT's self direction.
- Support community outings as needed
- Collaborate effectively with other supporters and family
Requirements
- Emotionally stable , trustworthy, and reliable
- Able to make at least a 2 year commitment
- Physically fit enough to keep up with active young adult
- Commitment to maintain professional boundaries at all times
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (English language)
- Outgoing personality with ability to develop a respectful and engaging relationship with a nonspeaking person with a complex disability
- Attitude which supports self-direction for people with disabilities
- Previous experience in direct support roles or similar positions is preferred
- Able to work independently
- Adaptability as needs or circumstances change
- Punctuality and reliable attendance
