The Kew-Forest School, a PS-12 co-educational day school founded in 1918 in Forest Hills, NY, seeks an experienced Mathematics teacher for its Middle and Upper School. We are proud to enroll an astonishingly diverse student body representative of Queens and New York City, including approximately nine percent international students. Middle School students take two years of Pre-Algebra in Grades 6 and 7, followed by Algebra 1 in Grade 8. All Upper School students are required to complete three years of Mathematics. A possible courseload includes 7th Grade Pre-Algebra, Precalculus (Standard and Honors), and AP Calculus BC. The Middle and Upper School encompasses Grades 6-12 and requires faculty to be knowledgeable about student and curricular development across these grades. Preference will be given to candidates with strong leadership skills and demonstrated experience teaching Mathematics at both divisional levels.

The ideal candidate will have or be...
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher with an emphasis in Mathematics;
- Experience teaching both Middle and Upper School Mathematics, including standard and honors;
- Familiarity with and enthusiasm for designing curricula aligned with the IB MYP (preferred);
- Committed to cultural competency and supporting a diverse student population through inclusive mathematics curricula;
- A dynamic and flexible instructor who can differentiate instruction for a range of learners;
- Invested in designing courses and learning experiences that engage students in project-based and inquiry-based practices using of data analysis, projects, and hands-on activities;
- Passionate about mentoring student learning outside of the classroom;
- Demonstrably committed to professional development and lifelong learning within the field of Mathematics;
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in mathematics education;
- Well-versed in digital resources, digital textbooks, and classroom technology;
- Able to develop hands-on field trips around Long Island and New York City;
- Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues;
- A collaborative partner to fellow Mathematics teachers.
