Overview
Founded in 1918, The Kew-Forest School is the oldest independent, coeducational, college-preparatory school in Queens, serving students in Preschool through Grade 12. Rooted in the communities of Kew Gardens and Forest Hills and drawing families from across New York City and beyond, Kew-Forest is defined by its academic rigor, deep commitment to diversity and inclusion, and a warm, close-knit culture.

Our Middle & Upper School students explore multiple facets of computer science—from understanding how the internet works, to circuit building with Arduino, to coding in Python. In the Middle School, courses place a significant emphasis on AI literacy, helping students build a foundational understanding of artificial intelligence, its applications, and its ethical implications. In Upper School, students may take Advanced Placement (AP) Computer Science Principles and/or Advanced Topics in Computer Science. Students across the two divisions with an interest in programming also participate in a weekly robotics club led by the Computer Science teacher.
Across all grades, the goal is to develop students’ ability to formulate problems, think creatively about solutions, and express those solutions clearly and accurately. The Middle & Upper School Computer Science teacher will work with a range of learners across multiple grades. Preference will be given to candidates with strong independent school experience.
