What are the responsibilities and job description for the Interim CFO (Construction Industry) position at The Keller Group?
The Keller Group is supporting our client, a well-established construction company, in their search for an experienced Interim CFO to provide strategic financial leadership during a transitional period. This consultant will partner closely with executive leadership to oversee financial operations, improve reporting and forecasting processes, and manage cash flow.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic financial leadership and guidance to executive management
- Oversee accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Analyze project profitability, work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, and job costing metrics
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes
- Evaluate and strengthen financial controls, processes, and reporting capabilities
- Support banking relationships, lending compliance, and financial covenant reporting
- Lead cash flow forecasting and working capital management initiatives
- Partner with operations and project management teams to improve financial performance
- Assist with board, ownership, or investor reporting as needed
- Mentor and support the accounting and finance team during the engagement
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred
- 10 years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience
- Prior CFO, VP of Finance or Controller experience within the construction industry
- Strong understanding of job costing, percentage-of-completion accounting, WIP reporting, and construction financial metrics
- Experience with cash flow management, forecasting, and strategic planning
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively across all levels of an organization
- Availability to begin ASAP on a contract basis
