Position: Director of Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) - Aviation

Office Location: Tempe, Arizona (Greater Phoenix Area)

Work Schedule: Onsite Monday-Friday

  • Candidates with air medical industry experience will be highly preferred, as this background provides the regulatory knowledge and operational understanding needed to succeed in the role.
  • This position is based onsite at the company’s headquarters in Tempe, AZ.

We are partnering with a leading air medical transportation organization to identify a Director of Safety (HSEQ) to join their team in Tempe, AZ. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced safety leader who enjoys building strong safety cultures, developing programs, driving continuous improvement, and partnering with executive leadership to maintain the highest standards of operational safety and quality.


This role will oversee the organization’s Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality management systems while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and strengthening safety practices across aviation, medical operations, and field teams. The successful candidate will serve as a strategic leader responsible for advancing safety initiatives that protect employees, patients, and operations.


What the role involves

  • Lead and maintain Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality management systems across the organization
  • Partner with executive leadership to identify risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement
  • Develop and implement HSEQ policies, procedures, programs, and training initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including FAA Part 135, OSHA, EPA, and industry standards
  • Track safety metrics, KPIs, incidents, and corrective action plans
  • Lead incident investigations, safety reviews, and root cause analysis efforts
  • Deliver safety training, presentations, and employee education programs
  • Conduct operational site visits to evaluate safety practices and gather employee feedback
  • Manage safety documentation, reporting requirements, and compliance records
  • Champion safety culture initiatives and continuous improvement efforts


What our client is looking for

  • 7 years of progressive Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Management, or Quality experience
  • Experience leading safety programs within aviation, air medical, healthcare, transportation, manufacturing, or another highly regulated environment
  • Strong knowledge of FAA Part 135 operations, OSHA, EPA, and safety management system requirements
  • Proven ability to influence leadership teams and build a strong safety culture
  • Experience with incident investigations, risk assessments, and corrective action planning
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to train employees at all levels
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience tracking safety metrics, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Aviation Safety, or related field preferred

Salary : $107,000 - $156,000
