Director of Accounting + Operations

Are you a hands-on finance leader who likes owning the whole picture? A well-established, privately held financial services firm in the West Valley is hiring a Director of Accounting & Operations to run its full finance, accounting, payroll, and HR function for a close-knit team. This is a rare seat in a small organization: you’ll set the direction and roll up your sleeves to do the work, partnering directly with ownership and leadership.

What you’ll own

• Full-cycle accounting — general ledger, AP, reconciliations, journal entries, and a clean, on-time month-end close.
• Financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and the KPIs leadership uses to steer the business.
• Payroll from start to finish — accurate, compliant, and on time.
• The HR function end to end — onboarding, benefits, employee relations, and policy — plus guiding HR support staff.
• Day-to-day office operations and outside vendor relationships (payroll, benefits, IT, insurance), serving as a trusted right hand to ownership.

You might be a great fit if you…

• Have owned a month-end close and can run an accounting function without a large team beneath you.
• Are as comfortable in the details as you are advising leadership.
• Bring real payroll experience and are happy wearing the HR hat (a meaningful part of this role).
• Know your way around QuickBooks and Excel.
• Are resourceful, low-ego, and thrive in a small, collaborative, family-oriented environment where no task is beneath you.

Nice to have (not required)

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Prior supervisory or management experience.
• Any industry background welcome — financial services experience is a plus, not a must.

The details

• Location: Northwest Valley, AZ — primarily on-site, with flexibility and hybrid potential over time for the right person.
• Compensation: $90,000–$120,000 base, depending on experience.
