Position Summary

The Finance Assistant provides administrative and financial support to the finance department by assisting with daily accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring timely processing of financial transactions. This role is responsible for tasks such as accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing and verification of hours, data entry, invoice processing, account reconciliations, expense tracking, and preparing financial reports. The Finance Assistant works closely with internal departments and external vendors to ensure compliance with company policies and financial procedures while contributing to the accuracy and efficiency of the organization's financial operations. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications are essential for success in this role

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Must be willing to learn about the JRC students, their disabilities and the forms of treatment provided at JRC.
  • Assists in all areas within the Finance Department to include payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and all other areas in the Department where assistance is needed.
  • Covers specific areas within the department when members are on vacation
  • Reviews new-hire information for accuracy and verify payroll setup.
  • Assist with account reconciliations.
  • Completes end of year reporting requirements as required by GAAP
  • Responsible for completing other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in finance, accounting, bookkeeping, or a similar administrative role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, sorting, filtering, and basic financial analysis.
  • Experience using accounting or ERP software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Business Central NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle) is preferred.
  • Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling financial information.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience with budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and bank reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and basic financial modeling.
  • Experience supporting audits or month-end/year-end closing processes.

  • Process invoices and payments.
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable and payroll.
  • Prepare financial reports and spreadsheets.
  • Reconcile bank and general ledger accounts.
  • Maintain accurate financial records.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Respond to finance-related inquiries from staff and vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and financial procedures.
