Senior UX Developer (Enterprise Experience)
Location: Boston area or Portsmouth preferred; open to remote
Overview
An Enterprise Experience Design team is seeking a Senior UX Developer with strong front-end development skills to support the creation of intuitive, scalable employee-facing products. This role focuses on designing and building high-quality enterprise experiences that enable employees across multiple business functions—such as legal, finance, talent, technology, and data—to work effectively and efficiently.
This is a hybrid role combining experience design, UI development, and coded prototyping, with a strong emphasis on collaboration across design, product, and engineering teams. The ideal candidate is comfortable moving between design tools and production-quality front-end code, and enjoys shaping reusable patterns, components, and documentation that scale across a large organization.
Role Responsibilities
- Create user-centered design solutions that emphasize usability, accessibility, and high-quality visual and interaction design.
- Translate wireframes and high-fidelity designs into coded prototypes and UI components using React and TypeScript.
- Build and maintain reusable UI components aligned with design systems and token-based theming.
- Partner closely with designers working in Figma to implement and evolve shared patterns, components, and design tokens.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to understand objectives and translate them into effective user experiences.
- Use modern AI-assisted tools (such as large language models) to accelerate ideation, prototype scaffolding, refactoring, and documentation—ensuring appropriate human review and validation.
- Produce and maintain Markdown-based documentation, including component usage guidelines, instructional resources, and internal enablement materials.
- Contribute to accessibility-first, performance-minded UI development (WCAG/ARIA).
- Present design and development work to senior stakeholders with clarity and confidence.
- Work within Agile/Scrum teams to deliver iterative, high-quality solutions.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of experience coordinating or contributing to small–medium sized projects.
- 5 years of experience as a UX Engineer, Front-End Developer, or Design Technologist delivering production UI or high-fidelity prototypes.
- Proven ability to build coded prototypes (portfolio required).
- Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS/SCSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Production experience with React (or comparable modern frameworks).
- Familiarity with front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Solid understanding of core design principles, including layout, typography, spacing, grids, and information architecture.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating from Figma designs through implementation.
- Hands-on experience creating and maintaining design tokens and mapping them to UI components.
- Experience creating and maintaining Markdown documentation for UI patterns, components, or internal knowledge sharing.
- Experience incorporating AI/LLM tools into design and development workflows, including prompt practices and human-in-the-loop review.
- Strong accessibility fundamentals and attention to performance.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present to senior audiences.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
- Experience with token management pipelines or tools (e.g., token management systems, theming frameworks).
- Familiarity with Storybook or similar component documentation tools.
- Exposure to UI testing frameworks (RTL, Jest, Cypress).
- Experience designing and building enterprise or data-heavy applications (tables, filtering, dashboards).
- Familiarity with enterprise-scale build and release processes.
- Ability to work independently with a strong customer-service mindset.
- Proven experience delivering status updates and presentations to senior leadership.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into user flows, scenarios, and diagrams.
- Demonstrated success collaborating across cross-functional teams.
