What are the responsibilities and job description for the User Experience Researcher position at The Judge Group?
Role Title: UX Researcher
Duration: 06 months
Work Location: Hybrid, New York, NY
Role Overview
We are looking for a highly proactive, senior-level UX Researcher to step in. In this role, you will support a core foundational team focused on high-visibility Consumer Desktop Products, partnering closely with a matrixed, cross-functional organization.
This position requires a seasoned mixed-methods researcher who leans heavily into qualitative methodologies but is comfortable utilizing quantitative data to drive product strategy.
You will operate with high autonomy, owning your research roadmap end-to-end and collaborating daily with a fast-paced network of Product Managers, Product Designers, and Software Engineers to directly impact millions of daily consumer users.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Ownership: Independently scope, design, scale, and execute research studies from initial question formulation through to data gathering, synthesis, final reporting, and strategic presentation.
- Roadmap Management: Balance 2 to 3 major strategic workstreams ("big rocks") while efficiently managing a steady, rolling monthly pipeline of tactical, evaluative, and foundational/exploratory projects.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Design, Product Management, and Engineering to ensure user insights actively shape product timelines and execution. (Collaboration with Data Science teams is a plus).
- Methodology Balance: Execute a healthy split of research methodologies, indexing roughly 65–70% on Qualitative work and 30% on Quantitative frameworks.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience Level
- Seniority & Autonomy: Proven experience operating as an independent, Senior-level UX Researcher. Must have a track record of architecting entire research frameworks from scratch, rather than merely executing pre-defined rapid research templates or supporting a lead researcher's scope.
- Product Experience: Strong background delivering insights explicitly for desktop applications and consumer-facing products (a blend of enterprise and consumer is acceptable, but consumer focus is paramount).
- Technical Environment: Prior experience conducting research within mid-to-large-scale global technology companies (e.g., tier-1 tech firms or hyper-growth AI environments).
- Tooling Proficiency: Deep familiarity with external standard user research platforms, specifically UserTesting, Qualtrics, and dscout.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)
- AI Product Research: Direct experience executing user research for Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or LLM-driven consumer products is highly prioritized.
- Advanced Education: Master’s degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Anthropology, Cognitive Science, or a related field.
Salary : $100 - $120
