Principal Sourcing Specialist
Overview
The Principal Sourcing Specialist is responsible for independently managing operational procurement activities for assigned business units, including Generation, Home, Corporate Shared Services, and Business. This role involves identifying qualified sources of supply, leveraging strategic agreements, conducting competitive pricing analysis, and managing purchase orders and blanket agreements. The position also includes mentoring team members and supporting complex procurement projects.
Responsibilities
- Process purchase requisitions for materials and services into purchase orders with qualified suppliers and competitive pricing.
- Research potential sources of supply and conduct RFQs to ensure compliance with supply chain policies.
- Engage and communicate with suppliers throughout the RFQ, selection, and PO fulfillment process.
- Coordinate with strategic sourcing teams to leverage strategic agreements and identify bid opportunities.
- Collaborate with requisitioners and suppliers to ensure clear communication of purchasing needs and fulfillment activities.
- Monitor and report savings and key performance metrics for business units.
- Manage supplier engagement for delivery confirmations, performance issues, and invoice processing.
- Maintain and update blanket agreements and pricing to ensure accuracy and effective terms.
- Ensure compliance with all operational procurement processes and procedures.
- Identify opportunities for enterprise-wide sourcing initiatives based on demand and strategic agreement usage.
- Support outage planning and project-based procurement activities, including reporting milestones.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to junior procurement team members.
- Lead process improvement initiatives, metrics reporting, and operational procurement projects.
Working Conditions
- Work in power plants and open office environments.
- Occasional overtime for special projects.
- Travel up to 10–20%.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- 5 years of procurement experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Power BI).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Engineering.
- 5–7 years of sourcing experience in Generation, Retail, or Corporate categories.
- 1 years of experience with SAP applications.
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or equivalent.
Additional Skills
- Experience in supply management for power plants, corporate, IT, marketing, advertising, or similar categories.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills for collaboration with stakeholders and suppliers.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage workload independently.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
