Job Summary
The Sanitation Manager is responsible for managing all sanitation activities in a USDA-regulated food processing facility. This role ensures the facility, equipment, and processes meet USDA, food safety, and company sanitation standards to support safe and compliant food production.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage daily sanitation operations, including pre-op and post-op cleaning
- Ensure compliance with USDA, FSIS, SSOPs, HACCP, and food safety requirements
- Develop, implement, and maintain sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOPs)
- Lead, train, and supervise sanitation employees and supervisors
- Conduct sanitation inspections and pre-operational checks
- Coordinate sanitation activities with Production, Maintenance, and Quality Assurance
- Manage sanitation chemicals, supplies, and inventory
- Investigate and resolve sanitation issues and corrective actions
- Support audits, inspections, and regulatory visits
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3–5 years of sanitation experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment
- Prior supervisory or management experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of USDA regulations, SSOPs, and HACCP principles
- Familiarity with sanitation chemicals, CIP systems, and food safety practices
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
