About the Job

As a Safety Specialist, you will help maintain and strengthen a proactive safety culture within our warehouse operations. Reporting directly to the Safety Manager, you will partner closely with Operations Leadership and warehouse team members to ensure workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across all safety programs. You will play a key role in preventing workplace injuries, supporting employee engagement, and ensuring adherence to OSHA and company safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a thorough understanding of company policies, procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and safety guidelines to ensure compliance and injury prevention.
• Monitor, maintain, and analyze safety data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement, and communicate findings to leadership.
• Conduct and document incident and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
• Manage and support workers' compensation case administration and follow-up activities.
• Perform routine safety inspections, audits, and observations throughout the facility.
• Deliver safety training programs for new hires and existing employees, including refresher and corrective training as needed.
• Communicate updates regarding safety regulations, policies, and programs to employees and management.
• Partner with Operations teams on process improvement projects by evaluating safety requirements and recommending compliant solutions.
• Implement and support safety initiatives and programs while reinforcing safe work behaviors and employee accountability.
• Lead and oversee 6S standards and compliance across warehouse operations.
• Coordinate safety committee activities, develop action plans, track progress, and provide updates to management.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in a warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or similar operational environment.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety best practices.
• Experience conducting incident investigations, safety audits, or compliance inspections.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Graduate Safety Professional (GSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or similar safety certification.
• 3-5 years of experience supporting safety programs in a warehouse or distribution setting.
• Experience developing and delivering employee training programs.
• Knowledge of 6S or continuous improvement methodologies.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence and engage teams.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and perform other physical activities required in a warehouse environment.
• Ability to maintain visual focus, depth perception, and hearing necessary to safely perform job duties.

$78,400 - $88,000 (based on experience)
