The PET Technologist performs a variety of PET/CT and nuclear medicine procedures under general supervision following established clinical protocols. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging while maintaining a standard of care rooted in respect, operational excellence, and technical precision. This role requires sound clinical judgment, technical expertise in radiopharmaceutical administration, and compassionate patient interaction.
Essential Responsibilities
- Clinical Imaging: Operate PET/CT and nuclear medicine equipment to complete diagnostic procedures accurately and efficiently.
- Patient Care: Screen patients for contraindications; review clinical history and exam requisitions prior to imaging. Clearly explain procedures to patients to alleviate anxiety and ensure cooperation.
- Diagnostic Quality: Prepare exams for radiologist interpretation, ensuring accurate patient identification, clinical history, and the inclusion of relevant prior images.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow all radiation safety guidelines and comply with company, hospital, and regulatory procedures. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient names, insurance details, and medical records (HIPAA).
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure PET/CT equipment is clean, disinfected, and functioning properly; report any technical malfunctions immediately.
- Collaboration: Monitor patient status during exams and assist radiologists with urgent needs. Support the scheduling team in the preparation of patients for specialized imaging.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certifications: * Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification (NMTCB) OR ARRT Radiology Certification.
- Current RT or CT Registration.
- Active CPR Certification.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of professional experience specifically in PET imaging.
- Technical Knowledge: * Proficiency in operating advanced imaging equipment and radiology software.
- Comprehensive understanding of patient care and quality assurance standards.
- Familiarity with OSHA standards and radiation safety protocols.
- Registered and/or certified specifically in Nuclear Medicine.
- At least 1 year of experience in a dedicated Nuclear Medicine department.
- Demonstrated ability to manage age-specific and condition-specific imaging protocols.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex technical procedures to patients and providers.
- Organization: Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail in medical record-keeping.
- Patient Advocacy: A commitment to delivering top-tier service and maintaining patient comfort throughout the imaging process.
Salary : $40 - $43
