Job Title: Mainframe Developer
Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid: 3-4 days/week in office)
Duration: 6 months with possibility of extension
About Role:
Seeking a Mainframe Developer, with 10 years of development experience, to implement and test changes to mission-critical COBOL/DB2 applications. The role works in an Agile/Scrum team, collaborates with internal teams, and uses JIRA/Confluence for work tracking and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
• Implement code changes to COBOL programs, copybooks, JCL, and DB2 stored procedures.
• Unit test all code changes and additions (COBOL, copybooks, JCL, DB2 SPs).
• Support QA during integration and regression testing; reproduce and help diagnose defects.
• Participate in Scrum ceremonies, including daily standups.
• Coordinate with Schwab internal teams to validate dependencies and integrations.
• Work with external vendors where necessary to test and validate dependencies.
• Document changes and testing results in Confluence; manage tasks and defects in JIRA.
Required Skills & Experience
• Strong COBOL development experience.
• Practical knowledge of DB2 (including stored procedures).
• JCL and z/OS/MVS operational experience.
• Experience performing unit testing for mainframe artifacts.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices and participation in team ceremonies.
• Experience using JIRA and Confluence for work management and documentation.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-team interactions.
Salary : $50 - $55
