Position Overview
As a Workers’ Compensation Staff Counsel, you will represent the organization and its insured policyholders in workers’ compensation claims involving moderate exposure and complexity. You will be responsible for managing cases end-to-end, developing litigation strategies, and ensuring high-quality legal representation aligned with company protocols.
Key Responsibilitie
- sDevelop and execute legal strategies for assigned cases using established Litigation Protocols, including discovery, investigation, hearings, and trial preparation
- .Independently handle all aspects of litigation, including
- :Discovery and deposition
- sHearings, trials, and oral argument
- sMediations and arbitration
- sConduct legal research and draft legal documents such as
- :Pleadings, motions, briefs, and legal opinion
- sManage and negotiate settlements when appropriate
- .Provide clear, actionable legal advice to Claims Representatives and insured clients, maintaining strong professional relationships
- .Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and maintain consistent communication throughout case lifecycles
- .Stay current on developments in workers’ compensation law and related fields (e.g., medical, engineering, or technical defenses where relevant)
- .Leverage legal technologies and tools to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance case outcomes
- .Act as a team lead or mentor within the legal team as needed
- .Interface with the Home Office Legal Department on escalations, reporting, and compliance matters
