Manufacturer in the Bellevue, WA area is seeking a Cost Accountant who is responsible for analyzing manufacturing expenses, maintaining standard costing systems, evaluating inventory, and performing cost-variance reporting across production operations. Working closely with operations, supply chain, and plant leadership, this role provides actionable financial insights to optimize manufacturing margins, manage inventory risks, and ensure accurate Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) reporting.
Responsibilities
- Costing & Variance Analysis: Establish and update standard costs (BOMs and routings); analyze monthly Purchase Price Variance (PPV), labor efficiency, material usage, and overhead absorption.
- Inventory & Month-End Close: Prepare month-end GL journal entries for inventory, COGS, scrap, and reserves; reconcile inventory sub-ledgers to the general ledger.
- Audit & Control: Direct cycle counts and annual physical inventory counts; manage calculations for slow-moving, obsolete, and excess (SLOB) inventory.
- Operational Collaboration: Partner with plant management to evaluate scrap, production downtime, product line margins, and ROI on proposed capital expenditures (CapEx).
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 3 years of accounting experience, including 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of GAAP, standard costing, and inventory valuation methods; proficiency with ERP manufacturing systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics 365) and advanced Excel.
- Certifications (Preferred): CMA or CPA credential.
