What are the responsibilities and job description for the Blockchain Developer position at The Judge Group?
Title: Senior Engineer, Blockchain Platforms (Hybrid)
Location: Southlake, TX or Austin, TX (Hybrid β 4 days a week on-site)
Duration: 12-Month Contract (With potential for FTE conversion)
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Engineer, Blockchain Platforms to help design, build, and integrate the foundational blockchain infrastructure layer underpinning our next-generation digital asset custody and tokenization platforms.
This is a highly hands-on engineering role focused on Layer-1 blockchain integration, core infrastructure components, enterprise wallet engineering, and custody-related blockchain workflows. Operating at the unique intersection of blockchain protocol mechanics and institutional financial systems, you will work in close partnership with Lead Custody and Security Engineers to ensure all blockchain interactions are highly secure, reliable, observable, and production-ready.
What You Will Do
- Layer-1 Blockchain Integration: Connect internal financial frameworks with existing Layer-1 blockchains (e.g., Ethereum-based or other enterprise-relevant protocols). Evaluate, extend, and build chain-level mechanics encompassing transaction lifecycles, finality, forks, reorgs, and event propagation.
- Core Infrastructure Architecture: Design and build critical blockchain infrastructure services, including indexers, event processors, block explorers, observability tools, chain data APIs, and cross-chain interoperability components.
- Wallet Architecture & Key Management: Contribute to the development of blockchain-facing wallet services, transaction creation, and signing pipelines. Ensure secure integration with custody key management systems such as MPC, HSMs, and specialized signing services.
- Custody Workflows & Recovery: Manage on-chain transaction executions, event monitoring, reconciliation, and chain-specific failure-handling recovery patterns. Define safe frameworks for interacting with smart contracts and modern token standards.
- AI-Augmented Engineering Rigor: Apply modern distributed software development practices. Leverage GenAI and agentic AI tools to accelerate protocol analysis, code development, testing, and documentation without sacrificing correctness or system safety.
What You Bring
- Core Experience: 7 years of professional, full-cycle software engineering experience.
- Blockchain Domain Expertise: Direct, hands-on experience building or integrating blockchain networks or distributed ledger systems (DLT), with a deep structural understanding of Layer-1 protocols.
- Backend Systems: Proven experience building robust backend services, highly performant APIs, and data infrastructure components.
- Technical Stack: Proficiency in one or more core systems languages such as Go, Java, Rust, Python, or similar.
- Collaborative Mindset: Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge requirements across security, platform infrastructure, and business custody teams.
Strongly Preferred (But Not Required)
- Practical experience working with blockchain indexers, explorers, or chain analytics systems.
- Familiarity with wallet architectures, transaction-signing workflows, or crypto custody platforms.
- Exposure to security-sensitive financial systems or asynchronous, distributed environments.
- Experience utilizing modern AI tooling to support complex software development workflows.
What Success Looks Like
- Blockchain integrations operate predictably, observably, and resiliently under heavy enterprise production loads.
- Transaction pipelines behave flawlessly across both normal and edge-case chain conditions.
- Incidents related to blockchain dependencies are quickly diagnosed and mitigated using modern observability tools.
