The ASL Interpreter provides interpretation and transliteration services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. This role ensures full access to classroom instruction, school activities, and communication with staff. The interpreter collaborates with educational teams, supports IEP implementation, and helps maintain an inclusive and accessible learning environment.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Current ASL interpreter certification (RID or state‑approved equivalent)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and understanding of Deaf culture
- Experience supporting individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Ability to accurately interpret between spoken English and ASL
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families
- Provide interpretation during classroom instruction, meetings, and school activities
- Facilitate communication between students, staff, and families through accurate ASL/English interpretation
- Participate in IEP meetings and support implementation of student plans
- Utilize assistive technology and resources to enhance student access
- Maintain confidentiality and professional standards at all times
- Document student support and progress as required by district and IEP guidelines
- Manage time effectively to meet student needs
- Perform additional duties as assigned
