What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Technician (Electrical) position at The JPI Group?
We are hiring Field Technicians to support energy efficiency and demand response programs across Field Technician – Greenville, SC This role is ideal for candidates with a strong electrical background and mechanical aptitude who enjoy hands-on work and interacting with customers. The position focuses on installing smart technologies to help customers save energy and reduce usage during peak times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform field installations of smart thermostats, smart plugs, and other energy-saving devices
- Provide excellent customer service while working in residential environments
- Conduct basic system checks to ensure HVAC and electrical systems are operational (no repair work required)
- Travel within a designated radius (typically 30 minutes to 1 hour) to reach customer sites
- Maintain accurate records of inventory and equipment
- Participate in on-call rotation and support field operations Monday through Saturday
Location & Work Schedule:
- Positions available in Greenville, SC
- Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week
- Typical start time before 8:00 AM
- Workdays may include Monday–Saturday
- Daily travel within a local service area; company vehicle may be provided
Preferred Background:
- Strong electrical experience, especially residential (120V–220V systems, breaker boxes, wiring, cold cables, etc.)
- Basic familiarity with HVAC systems (minimal HVAC work is required)
- General mechanical aptitude or background in maintenance
- Organized and able to manage inventory and equipment maintenance
- Ability to work independently in the field and provide high-quality customer interactions
